THE Democratic Party (DP) leaders in Jinja have warned the sect of the party under Francis Bwengye to keep out of Busoga region in its attempt to solicit signatures for the registration of the party.
They also cautioned the party vice-president, Zachary Olum, and the former secretary general, Robert Kitariko, to stop what they called misleading the public about DP’s legitimate leadership.
This was contained in a press release issued on Friday and signed by the Jinja district DP chairman, George Wilson Mawanda, and the secretary, Ben Isiko.
“DP in Jinja district has learnt of activities undertaken by a group of people headed by Mr. Francis Bwengye, namely the holding of a secret meeting at Annesworth Hotel purportedly to solicit for signatures of certain individuals for purposes of registering DP as a party,” the statement read.
The district DP bosses disassociated themselves from the attempted registration of the party by the Bwengye group and reaffirmed their allegiance to DP president general Dr. Paul Kawanga Ssemogerere’s leadership. Ends
