KAMPALA – Lawyers defending The Monitor have asked court for more time to study Brig. Joshua Masaba, the UPDF airforce commander’s statement to the Police on the helicopter story. Alex Rezida and Charles Nangwala also asked Buganda Road Court Chief Magistrate Frank Othembi for more time to prepare to cross-examine the chief of military intelligence, Col. Noble Mayombo.

Envoys tour
KAMPALA – Heads of mission accredited to Uganda will travel to West Nile on June 3 to assess the conditions of the two proposed camps where over 16,000 Sudanese refugees are to be relocated. The commissioner for disaster management and refugees, Carlos Twesigomwe, yesterday said the envoys would spend two days in the region.

Food given
BUNDIBUGYO – The World Food Programme has distributed 32 tonnes of food to Congolese refugees in the district. The WFP coordinator, Tom Ahimbisibwe, said on Tuesday that 55,000 people benefited from the donation that included maize meal, vegetable oil and beans.

MP warned
KAMPALA – The National Drug Authority has warned Kyaddondo East MP Sitenda Ssebalu against claims that he has imported a drug that cures impotence from South Africa. Acting NDA executive secretary Dr John Lule told the press that Ssebalu was contravening the law.
