Anti-Crime Unit Recovers 10 Guns

The Violent Crime Crack Unit (VCCU) has recovered 14 guns and an assorted number of household properties from gangs that have been terrorising the country.

The Violent Crime Crack Unit (VCCU) has recovered 14 guns and an assorted number of household properties from gangs that have been terrorising the country.
The unit commander, David Magara, said the guns include 12 SMGs, one Uzi gun, a pistol and ammunitions recovered between April and May from Mbarara, Soroti and Masindi districts.
He paraded different groups of suspected robbers arrested with guns in Soroti, Mbarara and Masindi districts.
The suspects from Tororo, Kumi and Soroti were identified as Amos Oringa, Echeru, Kiwanuka Mujumbi, Julius Buloro and Medi Erawu.
Oringa allegedly participated in the attack on Maruku prison in 1998.
Those arrested from Kampala were Tom Sempijja, Wasswa Sekitoleko, Badru Kakungulu and Kalumba Siraji a.k.a Kasolo.
“We have also recovered suitcases, radios and TVs from burglars in Kampala. We are appealing to the public to come and identify their property,” Magara said at his Kirekka office.
He said the unit had intensified operations against burglars who are terrorising Kampala and its suburbs.
Magara warned the public to be on the look out for people claiming to be coming from the unit and are extorting money from the unsuspecting people.
“The public should report such people to any police station or ring 041286186 or 286185,” Magara said.
Nsubuga Kato who was allegedly posing as a Major was also arrested. Other were Jimmy Magala of Mutundwe and Siraji Kalumba of Musoke zone. Ends
