The Rotary clubs of Kampala East and Port Bell have given the disabled in Kyenjojo district 42 wheelchairs.
The donation was handed over to the beneficiaries on Saturday at Kasina hall.
William Kaija, the district council chairman, said the donation was realised after Ruth Katabarwa, the secretary for social services and welfare, solicited for the assistance.
Geoffrey Habaasa, the coordinator of the wheelchair project of Port Bell Rotary Club, said the clubs had contributed half the cost of the purchase while the International Wheel Chair Foundation contributed the rest.
Each char is valued at sh350,000.
Habaasa appealed to parents to immunise their children against polio because about 80% of their beneficiaries were victims of the disease. Ends
