Uganda Taxi Operators and Drivers’ Association (UTODA) officials have said the increase in fuel prices might scare off potential investors.

“We are worried about the ever increasing fuel prices which now go up almost every month. This might scare off potential investors in the taxi business for fear of making losses,” Hajji Musa Katongole, the association chairman, said.

Katongole was on Thursday speaking to journalists in Kampala soon after the finance minister, Gerald Ssendaula, announced in Parliament the increase in excise duty on petrol by sh50 per litre and sh30 per litre of diesel.

He was reading the 2003/4 budget proposals.
