THE commission of inquiry into witchcraft claims against Namirembe Christian Fellowship Church’s Pastor Simeon Kayiwa has been extended after preliminary findings.
“There is more evidence we are still investigating,” Bishop Pastor Morris Bukenya of Eden Revival Church, Wandegeya, said yesterday.
Bukenya is leading the six-man probe team.
The National Fellowship of Born Again Churches (NFBAC) spokesman and Pastor of Christ Witness Church, Ntinda, Dr. Abed Bwanika, said the commission had found more people to interview before compiling a probe report due for July 10.
The inquiry that started on May 9 was initially slated to take 30 days.
“We can’t reveal our findings at this stage. The commission has so far interviewed 10 people. About 20 more people will be interviewed before we compile our report for July 10,” Bwanika said.
Pastor Kayiwa, NFBAC former chairperson is accused by Rochelle Gibler, author of a book ‘The Power of Miracles’ of using witchcraft to punish those opposed to him. She also accused him of satanic practices including human sacrifice.
On May 5, Kayiwa requested that he be allowed to “take a short leave” to enable an internal probe commence.
