<b>Two dead</b><br>IGANGA – The Police registered 18 road accidents last month, two of them fatal. Andrew Ejoyat, the officer-in-charge of traffic, has said two people died while several others were injured.

IGANGA – The Police registered 18 road accidents last month, two of them fatal. Andrew Ejoyat, the officer-in-charge of traffic, has said two people died while several others were injured. “The carnage involved seven omni-buses, five lorries, two motorcycles and two bicycles,” he said.

Budget out
MBALE – The district council recently approved a sh25b budget for the 2003/2004 financial year. The secretary for finance and administration, Mukamba Kitutu, said about 60% of it would go to the education sector while health and environment will take 9%.

‘Be clean’
SOROTI – The district water officer, Opio Onega, has asked households to improve their sanitation if efforts to provide safe water in the district are to have any impact. He told The New Vision recently that sanitation in the district was still as low as 44%, despite a rise in safe water coverage.
