Bukenya gets gold

LINAH Bukenya earned Uganda her first gold medal at the World Special Olympics games yesterday.<br>The 12-year-old Makindye Hill primary school pupil clocked 63.84 seconds in the swimming 50m-backstroke at the national Aquatics Centre for the top accolade.

LINAH Bukenya earned Uganda her first gold medal at the World Special Olympics games yesterday.
The 12-year-old Makindye Hill primary school pupil clocked 63.84 seconds in the swimming 50m-backstroke at the national Aquatics Centre for the top accolade.
She beat swimmers from Honduras, Seychelles, China, Taipei, Hongkong, Azerbaijan and St Kitts.
“She showed bravery and determination in the waters,” said Nabagerekka Sylvia Nagginda Luswata, who was among the many people cheering Bukenya on.
Another Ugandan Nathan Yaffa won silver, clocking 1.21.70 seconds to cross the finishing line behind Codner Rico from Cayman Island.
