MBARARA — Primary and secondary school teachers are meeting to map out strategies that will ensure professionalism and job security before the implementation of the universal secondary education. Uganda national Teachers’ Union member James Tweheyo, told journalists at Hotel Canan that they will hold regional preparatory workshops across the country.

Security tight
MASINDI — Security has been beefed up at Bweyale trading centre in Kiryandongo sub-county to curb rampant robberies. The area LCI chairman, Edward Byakagaba, said this during an operation that netted four suspected robbers.

Budget out
RUKUNGIRI — The district local government has passed a sh10.8b budget for the 2003/04 financial year. The secretary for finance, Fred Kigango, said most of the revenue would be from central government transfers, to the tune of over sh10b.
