KAMPALA – The former head of the Swaminaraian Temple (Biwologoma) has requested the Supreme Court to order for his retrial in a case that led to his being convicted of conspiracy to murder. Arvind Patel, through lawyer Stephen Mubiru, told a panel of five justices that three magistrates of the same jurisdiction, one after the other, heard his case using the same evidence on record, contrary to the law.

GULU – The Police have arrested four thugs alleged to have posed as LRA rebels and used toy guns to rob residents of over sh300,000. Gulu Police station criminal investigations officer Vincent Ouma on Thursday said the Police arrested Joseph Ocaya, Martin Okot, Richard Oola and Alfred Opwonya on July 2 at Oguru village in Paicho sub-county.

RDC called
KAMPALA – Mengo Chief Magistrate’s court has ordered the arrest of the deputy resident district commissioner in charge of Lubaga, Wamala Kintu, over failure to pay over sh5m in defamation costs. Magistrate Sylvia Namubiru issued the warrant after Wamala defied court summons to appear and explain why he had failed to pay the money. Wamala was found guilty of calling Moses Kirunda a wizard last year.
