‘Kyotera-Mutukula Road Will Boost Trade’

THE Minister of Works, Housing and Communications, Eng. John Nasasira, has commended the work done on the Kyotera-Mutukula road, saying the road will boost regional trade.

THE Minister of Works, Housing and Communications, Eng. John Nasasira, has commended the work done on the Kyotera-Mutukula road, saying the road will boost regional trade.
Nasasira said this after inspecting the 45km highway from Kyotera town to Mutukula border post, constructed by the Government in fulfilment of President Yoweri Museveni’s campaign pledge to Rakai.
It was constructed by Sterling International using a loan from the African Development Bank.
“Since we have completed this road and our neighbours have also constructed theirs up to Bukoba, it is big business.
“You are the first beneficiaries. This road is very strategic for this region,†Nasasira said.
He said the road was in good condition, judging by his skills as an engineer.
“Even those who did not support Museveni during campaigns should now join the Movement for the obvious reasons.
“Come and join us to develop our country together,†he said.
Nasasira pledged to construct the two-kilometre roads in Kyotera town as per Museveni’s pledge.
He said the Government would reconstruct the Kyotera-Masaka road by January next year.
He asked residents to put aside politicking and concentrate on developmental issues.
Rakai LC5 chairman Vincent Ssemakula asked Nasasira to complete the compensation exercise for the people whose property was destroyed during the road construction.
He said this would prevent the tainting of the good service the Government has extended to the people.
