UGANDA begin their campaign for the CECAFA U-19 soccer title against Eritrea August 18 at Amaan stadium, Zanzibar.

Uganda, runners up in 1999 Nairobi edition are in group 'A' together with Tanzania, Eritrea and hosts Zanzibar while group 'B' will feature defending champions, Kenya, Ethiopia, Rwanda and Burundi.

Releasing the draw in Nairobi, CECAFA secretary, Nicholas Musonye said Sudan, Djibouti and Somalia had failed to confirm participation and had subsequently been excluded from the draw.

After taking on Eritrea, Uganda play their next game against Tanzania on August 20. They wind up their preliminaries against Zanzibar on August 22.

Uganda will play all their matches at 8:00pm. Two matches will be played everyday starting 4:30pm except August 16 and 18. Zanzibar and Tanzania will open the 11-day gala August 16.

Zanzibar president, Amani Karume has sponsored the event to the tune of US$25,000.
