Govt directs
Lira — The Government has shifted more responsibility to law enforcement officers at municipal and sub-county levels to prosecute wetland abuses. The district forest officer, Charles Olet, said recently at a workshop organised by the ministry of environment on management of wetlands that there was need to involve enforcement officers in local administration police and central police in handling wetland issues.

Gin netted
MOROTO — Over 250 jerrycans of enguli or local potent gin, were impounded on Saturday by the district administration. The Chief Administrative Officer, Luke Lokuda, said the gin was destroyed by the local administration Police, who carried out the operation at Matany trading centre. The district banned the sale of the gin early this year.
