MULAGO star Stephen Kawuma plotted a huge victory over Stanbic Bank in the national chess league on Sunday.

The former Olympian outwitted Benon Ssambya before his colleague completed the rout in the Kampala match.

Mulago’s Joseph Kizza also overcame Saada Nakyejwe, Moses Kawuma beat Daniel Nsibambi while Kawuma Mutumba edged Nicholas Kisiigha.

The win was Mulago’s second after getting free points against Makerere University who skipped the team’s first match.

Mulago handed Stanbic their second straight defeat. The side lost 4-0 to Kireka when the league started last week.

But Kireka lost their touch and succumbed 3-1 to Jinja who secured their first win. The side had earlier drawn 2-2 with Luzira a week before.

Makerere returned with victory over Mengo while Aviation drew 2-2 with Uganda Industrial Research Institute.
