THE state minister for communications, Michael Werikhe, has said Information and Communications Technology (ICT), must be given priority if any country is to compete favourably in world business.
He was last Thursday opening a workshop on electronic transactions (e-transactions) at Nile Resort Hotel in Jinja.
“As Uganda strives to effectively participate in the world market, there is need to take urgent measures to reform its business related laws to create an acceptable business environment.
“The government is committed to the implementation of policies that will ensure that the economy will stand the test of competition in the world market,” Werikhe said.
The three-day workshop organised by the Uganda Law Reform Commission and Commercial Justice Reform Programme was intended to discuss proposals for the reform of electronic transactions.Ends
