THE State has asked a Kampala court to convict a housewife who was arrested with an assortment of arms.

Zaitun Namulwana, in her early 30s, has been on remand in Luzira Prisons for three on charges of terrorism and seven for illegal possession of firearms.

State Prosecutor Catherine Wamukota yesterday told the Buganda Road Court Chief Magistrate, Frank Othembi, that she had produced sufficient evidence that Namulwana was arrested with the arms.

The court heard that Namulwana hid in her house at Kazo, Mukanzi Rwaza zone, a Kampala suburb, five guns, a stick grenade, 871 SMG ammunition, 78 Uzi gun ammunition and seven empty magazines.

“Court should find that the state has proved beyond reasonable doubt that the accused illegally had the arms without a firearms certificate,” Wamukota said.

The Court heard that Namulwana’s husband was allegedly killed in a robbery in Iganga.

Othembi set August 18 for judgement.
