SC Villa will not let Timothy Batabaire and Gonzaga Kasongo leave for professional trials as earlier planned.
The duo was scheduled to travel this week to Belgium, but the tightening race for the Nile Special Super League title has forced the club to make a U-turn.
“The two had to travel for professional trials as well in Belgium but will have to hold on. Leaving now will have great implications on our campaigns this season,” club secretary Edward Luyimbazi revealed yesterday.
“We are competing in the league and the Kakungulu tournament and we will need to have our best stars available,” he added.
The Villa Park side has since the departure of Phillip Ssozi to Belgian side Royal Sporting club Charleroi two weeks ago, seen its league point margin trimmed, creating question marks about the decision to let one of their best players leave.
“We thought it was healthy for the Ugandan game to let players go and try out their trade,” Luyimbazi said.

- Mbarara United face eviction from the league after they failed to travel to play a game against Top TV due to lack of transport yesterday.
