AN American communication company, Ashford International that was discontinued from completing a FM/VHF project to promote HIV/AIDS awareness in the country has failed to hand over the satellite equipment they built to the Ministry of Health (MOH).

Ashford officials said communications between them and MOH officials had broken down and the likelihood of handing over equipment was dim.

A senior manager), Chichi Chen, said, “There is no communication from Uganda’s ministry of health. We have stopped calling there. No one seems to take responsibility. It is tragic how an important project is not being taken seriously.”

Health state minister Capt. Mike Mukula, however, said, “The row has been resolved.
The Solicitor General okayed the payments to Ashford. and we expect them to hand-over the equipment,” Mukula said.

Chichi said, “We are not going to get frustrated again by having the MOH play games with us. We sent several faxes explaining that we needed to prepare the hand over. We are waiting for them to respond and communicate their scope of work for the hand-over. If they do not reply, I assume they do not want the hand over.”
