KATUMWA Sports Centre is to inject sh50m in this year’s Baganda Bika Football Tournament slated to kick off on September 25 at Wankulukuku and Nakivubo stadia.

David Katumwa, the proprietor of the Kampala sportsware firm disclosed his Bika Tournament sponsorship package Monday.

Last year, the company spent sh18m on the tournament.
Mpologoma clan beat Lugave 3-2 to lift the shield in a final presided over by Kabaka Ronald Muwenda Mutebi.

“I was impressed by the accountability from the organisers and I have decided to facilitate this year’s competition with a sh50m sponsorship package,” said a beaming Katumwa.

He said the package will include trophies, sets of jerseys to the last four and two balls to each clan that will register for the tournament.

Katumwa also said that he will offer medals to the top three clan teams plus prizes to the best four referees.

r Katumwa is meanwhile, set to hand over new sets of jerseys to Mbale Heroes and Kinyara football clubs next week.

Katumwa’s sportsware firm supplied Nile Special Super League (NSSL) teams two sets of jerseys before the start of the league. A set for the two was found tight and were returned.

Since then Heroes and Kinyara have been embroiled in colour clashes during their league encounters.

The most recent was when Mbale visited Masaka LC. The hosts saved the situation at the last minute when they changed jerseys.
