KAMPALA — Uganda Taxi Operators and Drivers’ Association (UTODA) has asked the Government to reduce taxes levied on passenger vehicles to prevent further fare hiking. UTODA general secretary Charles Kamya Kateregga said in this financial year’s budget, taxes rose to sh700,000 from sh380,000. He said vehicle owners cannot afford the tax because most of the money is spent on fuel and servicing the vehicles.
