FOUR days after unspecified millions of shillings dumped at a garbage heap in Buziga, a Kampala suburb, was picked by residents, the Police are still puzzled over its source.

“We’re still wondering what the source of this money is. No one has categorically come up to claim ownership,” John Bahemuka, the OC-CID of Kabalagala Police Station, said yesterday.

Patrick, an eight-year-old boy, picked the money from a dump on Friday. On Saturday, Tom Ssebuyira, the LC1 chairman of Mawanga zone in Buziga where the garbage heap is located, registered a complaint of loss of sh2.8m.

“We are investigating these complaints but we are not sure whether these are the rightful owners and the amount reported,” Police said.

Four people, including a 15-year-old boy, Jonathan Katamba, were held after they tried to claim the money.
