<b>Radio Kyoga to re-open</b><br>SOROTI – President Yoweri Museveni has promised to re-open the Soroti Catholic-founded radio, Kyoga Veritas FM. Museveni on Monday told Teso leaders at Soroti Hotel that the radio would be re-opened.

SOROTI – President Yoweri Museveni has promised to re-open the Soroti Catholic-founded radio, Kyoga Veritas FM. Museveni on Monday told Teso leaders at Soroti Hotel that the radio would be re-opened. He said he gave the directive for the closure of radio after receiving reports accusing the station of broadcasting information from rebels, which could cause panic and fear among the population.

Man arrested over books
KAMPALA – The Police at the weekend arrested a man and recovered 132 textbooks stolen from a secondary school in Rakai from him. John Sekabamba of Katuntu village in Mpigi district was arrested on Saturday at the New Taxi Park by Police working on a tip-off just as he alighted a mini-bus allegedly loaded with three sacks of the books.

LRA group seen fleeing
LIRA – A group of the Lord’s Resistance Army rebels led by self-styled Col. Charles Tabuley was reportedly fleeing Teso region towards Moroto county in Lira district last night, security sources have said. Fifth Division army spokesman Chris Magezi said the group was moving towards Amugo sub-county at the Lira-Katakwi border. Magezi did not, however, say how big the group was.

Roadblocks established
SOROTI – Military checkpoints manned by the Uganda People’s Defence Force (UPDF) have been established on the Soroti-Lira and Soroti-Katakwi highway. The army spokesman, Major Shaban Bantariza, recently said the roadblocks had been placed on two gateways into Soroti to provide security and guidance to travellers.
