KAMPALA – Local radio stations are to start receiving free environmental information for broadcast, the World Wide Fund has said. The project is to provide free scripts on agriculture, pollution, sustainable livelihood options, energy, water, forests, fisheries and wildlife. The broadcasts are aimed at creating public awareness.

NEMA unites
KAMPALA – A new planning body that brings together town and country planning boards has been set up. Officials at National Environment Management Authority (NEMA) say the body will help overcome the problem of land use without compromising environmental concerns.

Eco award
KAMPALA – A civil society organisation which has been fighting alleged graft in the Bujagali power dam project has been nominated for a $200,000 cash award, by a charity organisation in the UK. The Save Bujagali Crusade, NAPE and Green Watch were among the organisations nominated.
