THE High Court on Tuesday summoned the officer in charge of Luzira Upper Prisons, Henry Tugume, and the Prisons surgeon to explain the circumstances surrounding the dental problems of Richard Arinaitwe who is on trial over murder, reports Fred Kyobe.

High Court Judge Vincent Kagaba, issued the summons after Arinaitwe’s lawyer, Protazio Ayigihugu, said his client could not stand trial because of pain from a tooth-ache.

“My client is in so much pain and is feeling dizzy,’’ the lawyer said, as Arinaitwe in a casual yellow shirt and khaki trousers looked on in the dock..

State Attorney Vincent Okwang, however, said dental care was available in the Prison.
“I see no reason why he is not given treatment at Luzira, unless he prefers special treatment, which can be arranged with his family,” Okwang said.

Kagaba said before trial resumed, the two Luzira officials should appear.
