The Katikkiro of Buganda, Joseph Ssemwogerere, has asked the Baganda to pray for the passing of the cabinet’s proposal to support the federo system.

The Katikkiro of Buganda, Joseph Ssemwogerere, has asked the Baganda to pray for the passing of the cabinet’s proposal to support the federo system.

Ssemwogerere said this recently at a function to mobilise residents against the HIV/Aids scourge at White Angles school, Kirimya in Masaka town.

“I call upon all of you to continue praying for the government’s move on federo. We hear a lot of good information coming from that side, which is a cause for us to smile,” the Katikkiro said.

Recently, Cabinet came up with proposals for constitutional changes that would endorse a federal status for Buganda, among other issues.

He said under the federal system, Buganda used to set its own laws on various issues, but immorality was on the increase in the kingdom because the people have no one to guide them.

He asked the media to keep pornography away from society.

Ssemwogerere hailed president Yoweri Museveni for coming out in the open to mobilise people against the killer desease.

Ssemwogerere said the AIDS scourge, which started in Masaka and Rakai districts, was wiping out an entire generation although the number of people with Aids in the region had reduced from 30% to 6.8%.

He urged the youth not to shun work and appealed to the illiterate to join adult classes. He said Buganda would mark the adult literacy day on September 8.
He donated sh1m to the school.
