Shimoni Demonstration School pupils may have nowhere to sit next term, writes Hillary Kiirya.

An auctioneer, Ronald Lukwebe, acting on behalf of Royal Comp-Enterprises, has identified the school furniture, typewriters, computers, photocopying machines and duplicating machines as items that could be sold to cover sh50m out of a sh136m debt.

The High Court recently ordered the attachment of the school property after it failed to pay sh136m owed to Royal Comp-Enterprises Ltd, a local computer firm.

Court also instructed Bank of Baroda to block the school’s account until management cleared the debt, but the auctioneers were shocked to find only sh70, 000 as balance.

Deputy High Court Registrar J.B Sseggirinya on August 15, ordered the attachment of the property. The application for the furniture sale has been placed before the Commercial Court for consideration.

This followed a July 11, ruling, which High Court judge James Ogoola delivered in favour of Royal Comp-Enterprises Ltd.
