Kampala deputy town clerk James Sseggane (right), yesterday told court that the land which General Parts (U) Ltd claims to own belongs to Middle North Agencies.

The proprietors of Shumuk Uganda Ltd, who claim ownership of Middle North Agencies, sued General Parts owner Haruna Ssemakula for criminal trespass on plot M459 Nakawa Industrial Area.

Sseggane said the District Land Board (dlb) extended a five-year leasehold to Middle North from May 1, 2002.

However, General Parts lawyer Moses Kugumikiriza, on Tuesday told Nakawa Court that there were some letters alleging that Middle North conspired with Kampala City Council officials to cheat General parts of the disputed land. But Sseggane said he was not aware of the letters.

Kuguminkiriza presented a September 2002 letter from the mayor, Ssebaana Kizito, advising the DLB to revisit operations on the land since the matter was before court.

But Sseggane said the mayor had no power over the DLB and could not make decisions for it. The case was adjourned to September 16.
