The Kampala Kids League (KKL) U-11 Totos football team that won the Gothia World Youth Cup in Sweden are in non-residential training for games starting next week. They will play against selected district teams in a measles awareness campaign.
KKL Commissioner Trevor Dudley confirmed that KKL have received many requests for the team to travel up country and show the Districts the World Youth trophy as they play against the best team from the area.
The tour will be sponsored by the Ministry of Health and World Health Organisation as part of the mass measles awareness campaign. Measles immunisation is set for next month, nationwide.
The world champions will play in Mbale on September 20 and Jinja on September 21. The team then travels to Fort Portal on September 27 and Mubende on September 28. On October 4, the Totos will face Masindi district youth team and finish off on October 5 with a game in Luwero.
“I am so pleased that many thousands of Ugandans will now be able to see the wonderful ability of these kids. So many people in Europe were impressed with their fitness, skills and teamwork,” Dudley said.
“People in the districts will be able to see that the long term future is bright for Ugandan football and that KKL will help develop football and healthy attitudes at grassroots level,” the commissioner added.
