FUFA probe faces Herculean task

THE entire country will for once focus on football when an NCS-FUFA probe team into the problems bedevilling the game is named this week.

THE entire country will for once focus on football when an NCS-FUFA probe team into the problems bedevilling the game is named this week.

What the NCS-FUFA probe will come across are stories of players and officials on the pay-roll of rival clubs, players vanishing before key games and NFLC bosses signing player-licenses minutes before some games.

The probe will also hear about players bribing each other, 22-goal games, witchcraft, incompetent referees and a general lack of accountability.

It will require a no-nonsense leader in the mould of Abbey Kits Lutaya if the probe is to make any headway.

At the end of it all, the probe will likely recommend that Villa and Express be relegated as per NFLC rules! But, unlike the judicial probe on racism in South African rugby, the probe can only make recommendations to FUFA.

The ‘truth commission’ will hopefully touch everyone’s conscience, force KCC-Express-Villa to call a cease fire to their acts and police each other, and help Denis Obua reform himself, and the game.

This is the only way forward for Ugandan football.
