HISTORY repeated itself on Sunday as Sky Jammers found a way to stave off relegation to the second division when they upset Sadolin Power in the MTN basketball league.

Jammers last defeated Power in the 2001 MTN finals at Lugogo. They went 3-0 to wrestle the championship from then champions Power.

Power had an upper hand against Jammers in the first round but the story changed on Sunday.

The Jammers dominated play from the onset with Kane Balyejusa scoring a game high 33 points to give his team a 29-25 cushion at halftime.

Godwin Khisa added 18 that sealed the fate for Power who have now dropped to sixth position on the table. Jammers improved from ninth to eighth place.

Ken Mugabe and Diego Angemi had 12 points apiece for Power that entered the game minus star starter Wilbrod Oketcho who averages 25 points per game.

With five more games in hand, Power is expected to put up a better show to stay hopeful for the playoffs.

In other matches, Falcons led by Andrew Tendo’s 17 points forced Blue Jackets to succumb to a 47-point deficit as they cruised to a 98-51 victory.

Warriors maintained fourth place on the table with a 71-60 win over Livingstone.

The ladies encounter had A-1 Challenge defeating Amazon Rhino 52-35 to climb to the top of the standings.

Betty Namukasa led A-1 with 17 points while Jose Namayega added 8.

Barbara Namukaaya and Maggie Nalubega replied with 22 points for Amazon but were short of reducing the point gap.
