NCS has named a five-man probe team into Ugandan football to be headed by former defence state minister Steven Kavuma. The probe, that starts work today, will announce their findings on October 15.

The team, picked during the full National Council of Sports (NCS) meeting on Tuesday, has Kavuma as its chairman. Others on the team are Lt. Col Albert Kareba (former NCS member), Dr. Sentongo Kibalama (Dean at Makerere University), Geofrey Kihuguru (former MOSAC president) and Patrick Nyaika (Chief executive of Uganda Investment Authority).

NCS chairman Wilson Tumwine, flanked by different council members, FUFA president Denis Obua, secretary Haruna Mawanda and league sponsors Nile Breweries, announced the probe team at a press briefing at Lugogo Club House yesterday.

“Though they will be performing the duty voluntarily, we will with other meagre resources facilitate the smooth running of the probe,” said Tumwine.

He said, they had agreed with FUFA that there will be no league champion declared until after the probe.

Tumwine said that contrary to reports about divisions, FUFA and NCS fully agreed on the way forward last week.

“The relationship between us and FUFA is healthy and we should utilise this to bring Uganda football back,” said Tumwine.

The committee will interview officials from FUFA, NFLC, referees appointment committee, referees, match commissioners, the press, club officials, players and welcome tips or submissions from the general public.
The probe will sit at NCS headquarters Lugogo.
