THE World Bank has donated $100million (about sh200b) for the rehabilitation of war-torn areas in the north and northeastern regions of Uganda.
State Minister for Northern Uganda Rehabilitation Programme Grace Akello disclosed this while launching the Umoja Savings and Credit Society Limited at Kumi Community Hall recently.
Akello said Kumi district alone had been allocated $15million. She said the money was meant for community development.
She said the money would be channelled through the Northern Uganda Social Action Fund.
Akello said these programmes planned by the government would not be achieved unless the Iteso, Acholi, and Langi ended the war.
She commended the Iteso for forming cooperatives to eradicate poverty.
