KAMPALA — Following President Yoweri Museven’s refusal to assent to the Land Act (Amendment) Bill, 2003, Parliament is set to scrutinise it again. State minister for lands Baguma Isoke on Tuesday presented the text of the Bill as passed by Parliament on June 17, 2003 and as returned by the President.

MPs talk on accidents
KAMPALA — After the horrible accident which left over 50 people dead on Monday near the Uganda-Rwanda border, MPs have asked the Government to introduce speed governors to control speed on roads. Kalule Sengo (Gomba) suggested that all drivers should be re-tested.

Church for politics
MUKONO — The Bishop of Mukono diocese, Paul Luzinda, has said religious leaders have a big role to play in politics. He was at the weekend speaking during thanksgiving service for Rev. Francis Kalafa at Ntakajunge. He said the Church can no longer stop at evangelisation. “We cannot remain on envagelisation. We need to participate in politics to day in order to get better governance,” he said.

Walimbwa in India
NEW DELHI — Uganda’s High Commissioner to India Charles Walimbwa presented his credentials to the Indian President, Abdul P.J. Kalam in New Delhi. Walimbwa flew to New Delhi on September 15. The Indian president told him that he is committed to strengthening further the good relations with Uganda.
