School property worth millions of shillings was destroyed when fire gutted a dormitory at Namawojjolo Islamic Primary School in Mukono.
The 6:00am Friday fire started when most pupils had gone for prayers at the nearby mosque.
At least 150 pupils lost property, which included mattresses, blankets, books and clothes.
Teachers and residents used sand and water to stop the fire from spreading to other dormitories.
The Fire Brigade from Kampala reached the school after the fire was put out.
The deputy headmaster, Twaha Semakula, said no pupil was injured.
He said property worth sh30m was destroyed.
