NATIONAL champions Falcons, table leaders KIU and Nkumba-Marines won Sunday to maintain their strong charge as the top teams for the MTN basketball league playoffs.

Falcons, who led the game from the start, were up 45-36 at the break before they finally beat Warriors 62-53 to build their playoff hopes. Sam Obol scored 18 points and teammate Andrew Tendo added 11. Tony Oluka got a game high 13 points for Warriors.

Warriors’ Steve Okias, who averages 18 points per game, was limited to six points only as the Warriors’ dream of making the playoffs was shaken.

Marines needed strong play from Carroll Bisereko and Norman Blick as they nipped Miracle 59-52. But they had to contend with problems posed by Chris Kyebambe and Moses Wasswa before winning.

Kampala International University (KIU) whipped Sky Jammers 111-86 to maintain their top spot charge.

Isaac Afidra shot 37 points as Alex Ochola added 25 for KIU. Jammers were led by Kenneth Balyejusa’s 26 points and Godwin Khisa’s 23.

Women’s champions Lady Bucks also won big hitting Kitante 66-45 with Brenda Mbone making 25 points while Jackie Natocho had 18 for Kitante. In the lower division, Bush Court roughed up Makerere University 61-49, Najja High dismissed MUK Youth 39-14 and No-Nem walked over Flammers.
