THE Commonwealth Secretary General, Don Mckinnon, arrived yesterday to meet President Yoweri Museveni and other top government officials.
“I am keen to learn from President Museveni on the issues in East Africa and in particular the problem he has with the LRA and the north-eastern part of the country,” Mckinnon said at Entebbe Airport.
He said he would also update Museveni on developments since the last Commonwealth Heads of State and Governments meetings in Australia and South Africa.
The organisation’s communication chief, Joel Kibazo, said Mckinnon and Museveni would also discuss issues relating to the Commonwealth and Africa.
The meeting is scheduled to take place in Soroti, where the president is overseeing operations against the LRA. Mckinnon will later meet diplomats from Commonwealth countries.
His tour comes ahead of the Commonwealth Head of States and Government Meeting scheduled for December 5-8 in Abuja, Nigeria. The two will discuss the World Trade Organisation talks, which collapsed in Mexico.
