IGANGA resident district commissioner Francis Batinti has ordered the Police to investigate a controversial song sung by Iganga Town Council Primary School pupils during Independence Day celebrations at the school.
“Independence has never benefited us children. We have been molested, killed and maimed by every post-independence president,” the pupils sang.
They dramatised and shed tears on stage until the master of ceremonies ordered them off.
“Special Police branch and CID must investigate the origins of this song to know those indoctrinating these kids,” a visibly irked Batinti said.
He was chief guest at the function.
Batinti said some people against the Movement Government could have used the kids to utter their political statements.
“Even if you are anti-Movement, there are other ways to say so than using pupils who are ignorant of the song’s implications. Such people must face the law,” he said.
