EXPRESS FC has asked the league committee to halt plans for the 2003/2004 season until the committee probing last year’s chaos completes its work.

The probe committee headed by former defense state minister Stephen Kavuma is getting evidence from various soccer personalities.

The committee is investigating allegations of match fixing and bribery that rocked the 2002/2003 season.

Express secretary Kavuma Kabenge raised the club’s concern in a letter to FUFA yesterday.

Kabenge said National Football League Committee (NFLC) should halt its work because it is under investigation by the probe committee.

“To allow the committee to organise the league at this stage is to denigrate all efforts to rid the game of vices of last season,” Kabenge said.

The official asked FUFA to halt NFLC’s activities.

Kabenge said that if FUFA fails to act, “We shall be forced to take out an injunction to stop their activities in public interest”.

The Express club concern comes a few days after the High Court issued an interim order halting FUFA’s plans to initiate plans for the new season.

Court made the order after a case lodged by Top TV FC protesting FUFA’s decision to demote the team to lower division.

The case before High Court judge Richard Okumu Wengi will be heard on October 31.
