THE High Court yesterday rejected a request by the Attorney General to stop Francis Wazarwahi Bwengye from further construction of his house at Mutungo Hill in Kampala.

“Stopping Bwengye from further construction of his house is to divest him of his right to property before the case is concluded. The only thing that needs to be done is to expedite the hearing and disposal of this matter,” Justice Rubby Opion Aweri ruled.

State counsels Joseph Masiko and Henry Oluka, for the Attorney General, had asked the court to stop the construction.

They said the house was built next to state security installations.
The Government recently took over the plot saying it needed it for public use.

Earlier, Peter Mukidi Walubiri, the lawyer for Bwengye, had requested for an adjournment, saying he had just been served with two more affidavits.

A fortnight ago Bwengye successfully filed an injuction against the Government directive to repossess the house on Mutungo Hill.
