KAMPALA secondary school headteachers have been directed not to allow mobile phones into examination rooms in the forthcoming Uganda Certificate of Education (U.C.E.) and Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education (U.A.C.E.) examinations.

The Uganda National Examinations Board (UNEB) public relations officer, Eve Konde, said this on Thursday at Bat Valley Primary School.

Konde said the head-teachers should not allow examination malpractice as this would ruin the reputation of their schools, besides leading to the disqualification of the candidates.

She urged the head teachers to monitor the conduct of the invigilators throughout the examination period.

She said anyone who shows up at an examination centre claiming to be from UNEB, should have a UNEB identification card.

She said the chief invigilators should liaise with the head-teachers to wipe out impostors.

She warned invigilators against attempting to correct mistakes on the examination papers, saying this would instead increase more mistakes.

Konde also said UNEB expects feedback at the end of each examination from the schools subject teachers.

It was for this reason that she said two extra question papers are included in each school’s package.
