THE photographs recovered from the body of a Kony rebel officer in Kalaki have shown that the rebels took snap shots of the bus which they ambushed on September 1 at Atirir on the Soroti-Lira road.

A total of 22 people were killed during the ambush when a Gateway Mercedes Benz bus Reg. No. UPL 402 was set ablaze.

The photos were found on the body of LRA “lieutenant Onono Doctor Chandwang” who was killed last Thursday in Kalaki.

Thirteen other rebels died in the battle.

One of the photos showed the rebels forcing people out of the bus, another showed them harassing the helpless passengers and a third photo showed the bus burning.

Other photos also showed Tabuley sitting among granaries and others showed jubilant LRA fighters in a village setting.

“These photos are evidence of a group of people who do such a heinous thing deliberately and consciously, and this means that such a group must be hunted day by day until their final day,” army spokesman Major Shaban Bantariza said yesterday.

Capt. Mike Mukula, the state minister of health who is also the coordinator of the Arrow Group, said the photos give determination to the Arrow Group to fight to defeat Kony in Teso and pursue them to Sudan to rescue the captured Teso children.

He said, “this means that we shall harvest the LRA in Teso until they are no more.”

The UPDF and the Arrow Group have intensified operations against the LRA in Teso region, leading to the killing at the weekend, of Kony’s deputy “Brigadier” Tabuley.

Tabuley was shot in Teso after a 30-minute battle at midday on Wednesday. Three of his escorts were also killed at Kabalanga village, Otuboi in Kalaki county, Kaberamaido district.
