THE woman who committed suicide in Bugolobi, a city suburb, was an assistant Town Clerk in Central Division.

Sophie Kankunda had worked for Kampala City Council (KCC) for about 15 years.

Kankunda was said to have been jolly during a farewell party for retired town clerk Gordon Mwesigye at Speke Resort, Munyonyo, on Friday.

She danced as soon as Mwesigye and Kampala Mayor John Ssebaana Kizito opened the floor.

Kankunda was found hanging off a kitenge on the balcony of her residence in Bugolobi.

Central division senior assistant town clerk Mukasa Sekalo and the KCC public relations officer Simon Muhumuza said Kankunda will be buried today in Rukungiri.

Sekalo said Kankuda worked as assistant town clerk for about five years.

He added that Kankuda had been sick before committing suicide.
