KAMPALA — Mayor John Ssebaana Kizito has asked Rubaga South MP Ken Lukyamuzi not to go on fast over Wankulukuku Road. “We don’t want the MP to go on hunger strike again or fast because of the road. We will repair the road in December. We won’t wait until he starves himself,” Ssebaana said yesterday.

Penal Code reform plea
KAMPALA — The complex language used in the Penal Code is partly to blame for the high rate of crime, a workshop heard yesterday. Judicial officials at the workshop organised by the Uganda Law Reform Commission said the code needed simplification for easy interpretation and enforcement.

SA investors for Mengo
MENGO — A group of South African investors is in the country to finalise talks on the completion of the sh3b complex adjacent to the Kabaka’s seat. The Minister of Finance J.B. Walusimbi said yesterday that talks were at advanced stage. He said they approached the South Africans after failing to raise money to complete the structure. The construction of the building was started by Amin 24 years ago.

Herbalists to register
KAMPALA — The President’s Office has directed traditional birth attendants, healers and herbalists to register with the Natioal Council of Traditional Healers and Herbalists Association. This was contained in a recent directive sent to resident district commissioners .
