SC Villa has held back plans to import foreign players from Liberia and Sierra Leone pending results of the probe committee investigating the dirt in Ugandan football.

Coach Micho Sredojevic said their decision was reached after an executive meeting that resolved to protect his image before friends who linked him with the players.

“We don’t know what will come of the probe committee. And although I know we are clean, we don’t know whether we shall compete in any international events yet I don’t know when the league will start. I don’t want to bring the players here, keep them idle and spoil my friendship with those people.

“Remember after here I can decide to go and coach anywhere so it will be stupid to talk about the players now,” Micho said in an interview.

He said if the probe committee declares Villa innocent, the national champions will do anything to get at least three players to strengthen the squad for his plot to clinch titles in the league, Kakungulu Cup, CECAFA Club Championship and Africa Champions League which they intend to compete in next season.
