TRADITIONAL healers in Wakiso district are to get licenses after passing interviews, the National Council of Traditional Healers and Herbalists’ Association (NACOTHA) has said, Christopher Kiwawulo reports .

Erias Ssebangi, a NACOTHA supervisor, said during a recent sensitisation workshop at Nabweru sub-county that healers who would pass the interviews would be issued with licenses.

Ssebangi said the measure aimed at eliminating practitioners who were not genuine.

“We are doing this in response to many reports where masqueraders kidnap and sacrifice children,” he said, citing the recent child-sacrifice at Nansana.

Ssebangi said traditional healers who would have passed the interviews would be issued with NACOTHA identity cards.

He said members were required to pay a sh10, 000 fee for registration forms, but that registration would be free.
