POLICE in Kitgum district are holding a 30-year-old woman who allegedly strangled her one-year-old daughter to death.
Florence Aryemo, a resident of Westland Ward village, allegedly strangled Sharon Atto and later dumped the body in a bush.
The district assistant inspector of Police, George Atube, in an interview at his office recently said, “Aryemo admitted that she killed her child due to frustration.â€
Aryemo said the father of the child, Francis Ogenga, a resident of the same village, had refused responsibility of his child since pregnancy.
She said the father had refused to provide for any assistance for the child’s upkeep.
Aryemo said she was reportedly an orphan and was facing hardships from her guardians who also lacked the means to look after the baby.
