RUBAGA North brushed off a stiff challenge to dethrone Kakira as the inter-districts boxing championship ended at Lugogo on Thursday.

The Kampala side, which made a late charge, garnered 25 points to secure their maiden victory.

Middleweight Paul Kayondo and Peter Male were the architects of Rubaga’s triumph after outclassing Kampala Central’s Moses Gololo and Haruna Kigozi respectively in the crucial bouts.

Rubaga South finished second with 15 points while former champions Kakira were third at 13.
Makindye were fourth with 11 points while Nakawa, Kampala Central and Moyo were joint fifth with eight points.

The annual event that preceded the Uganda Amateur Boxing Federation (UABF) general assembly drew 75 boxers from 11 districts.
