THE Kabaka of Buganda, Ronald Muwenda Mutebi, is seeking to reverse the kiganda norm, which bars the reigning king from returning to Naggalabi coronation site.

Speaking at a balangira (royal clan) get-together party at Rubaga Catholic Social Centre in Kampala recently, Mutebi promised to meet the bataka (clan heads) to discuss the norm that debars him from monitoring the development of sNaggalabi into a tourism attraction site.

He said the tourism potential of the Amasiro (royal tombs) and other cultural sites should be developed to the standards of Kwazulu kingdom’s in South Africa.

Mutebi said get-together functions developmental to clans and urged the youth and middle-class to develop clan attachment.

He commended the Balangira football club performance in the just-concluded Bika tournament and told them to aim higher next year.

The Ssabalangira (clan head), John Kanakulya, enumerated the clan’s achievements in the 10 years since Mutebi’s coronation.

They included the registration of Balangira-Bambejja Twezimbe Association, education of children, instituting a clan emblem and cultural committee, among others.
He deplored the pathetic conditions of most royal tombs and sites.

He said it was the members’ responsibility to develop their respective ancestral sites or tombs.

Prince David Wassajja, princess Nalinnya Kagere, Nacwa and Senkindu and Bishop Michael Sennyimba attended.
