THE Permanent Secretary in the local government ministry, Vincent Ssekkono, has called for the sacking of Tororo chief administrative officer (CAO) Sylvester Oboth over alleged financial mismanagement

THE Permanent Secretary in the local government ministry, Vincent Ssekkono, has called for the sacking of Tororo chief administrative officer (CAO) Sylvester Oboth over alleged financial mismanagement, reports Felix Osike.

Ssekkono, in a September 25 letter to district chairman Nuwa Owora, said the ministry’s inspection department had established that there was gross mismanagement of public funds by Oboth.

“We recommended that the officer be removed from office. I am disappointed that hitherto, the district council has not taken action on this matter,” the letter reads.

The district, in leadership and financial crisis is indebted to the tune of over sh2b, owed for pension, gratuity and to private suppliers.

A tribunal headed by High Court judge John Katutsi is expected to start their investigations into allegations against Owora by two thirds of the district councillors.
