OLD boys of St. Peter’s College, Tororo, on Saturday raised sh5m for the school at a fundraising dinner in Kampala.

The state minister for labour and gender, Henry Obbo, who represented Vice-President Gilbert Bukenya as the guest of honour, asked former headmasters of the school to account for the sh300m debt they incurred.

Obbo was responding to the current headmaster Camayi Bule’s revelation that the school had a sh300m debt when he took over in 2001.

The dinner, organised by the Old Boys’ Association, is part of fundraising drive to build a science laboratory.

An Old Boy, Phillip Idro, who is also Uganda’s ambassador to China, raised sh1.6m through the auction of a portrait of President Yoweri Museveni.

The portrait was bought by the chairman of the Old Boys association, Wilbrod Owor.
Prof Bukenya gave sh1m.
